  • Urban Churches in UK revived by influx of African worshippers

  • Pakistani Christians cold-shouldered by mainstream Churches.

  • Polish Catholics encouraged to form Polish Speaking communities separate from weak British and Irish dioceses

  • Chinese Pentecostalists creating a place to feel at home.


The realities of globalisation, migration and post-colonialism mean that the Churches experience within and between themselves a series of relationships between cultural, linguistic and ethnic identities.

The Conference seeks to address the questions that arise because of these tensions and possibilities.

We hope to offer theological reflection on the prevailing issues; sociological analysis of the realities; missiological insight into the history and practice of diaspora communities; and discussion of probable future trajectories.

An important aspect of the Conference will be to hear the stories from pertinent case studies.
